At a committee meeting on 27th August it was decided to suspend all lunch meetings until the AGM in April 2021
The Harleston & District Probus Club was established in 1980, under the auspices of the Harleston & District Rotary Club. Its aim was to provide a forum for retired, professional and/or business people, of either sex, 55 years of age or older, to meet in order to be able to relax and enjoy the company of similar minded folks.
Now, 39 years later, the club is flourishing and meets for lunch at The Swan, Harleston, on the third Thursday of each month. At most lunches there is an invited speaker. Sometimes this is a club member, who talks of his professional experiences. On other occasions the speaker is a non-member speaking on his own special subject. The May, September and December meetings are guest lunches to which members may bring partners or friends. In addition to the regular meetings, the club also organises visits several times a year, to local sites of interest. Recent visits have been to, among others, Palace House, Newmarket; Sutton Hoo; Jimmy's Farm, Ipswich; King's Lynn and the Beth Chatto Gardens. These have been thoroughly enjoyed by all. There is also a trip to a show at the Theatre Royal in Norwich early in the year. |
We also have an informal coffee (or tea) get-together on the first Tuesday of the month. These gatherings start at around 10.30, last up to about an hour and a half, and are normally at The Swan in Harleston. These mornings are when we solve the problems of the world.
You can find more about the club on the FAQs page.
